As a Naturopathic Nutritionist I promote the treatment of all dis-ease of the body naturally through the use of nutrition, working with the body and not against it - nourishing and nurturing. Very much dealing with the root cause and not just the symptoms.

That wasn’t always the case for me, I like many other people would pop a paracetamol for a headache or go to the doctors for a variety of ailments. In so doing handing my health decisions over to my doctor and in the process taking various medications which I now realise just suppressed the symptoms and pushed them deeper into my body.
However an illness brought about a very dramatic change in my life and I chose to embark upon my own healing journey.
After an extremely bad virus I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and the symptoms I experienced necessitated in me taking a year out of university. My body basically started to shut down. I had little or no energy, finding it difficult to get out of bed, to walk, read, write, watch TV and do anything that I usually took for granted. I was exhausted and also in a lot of physical pain throughout the whole of my body, including terrific abdominal pains, headaches, stiffness and aching body parts and a rash which covered both legs, top to bottom. My doctor took numerous blood and other bodily samples and following various tests I was given the diagnosis of CFS/ME. At that point my doctor said that he could do no more and he advised me to go home, to rest, to get some good bacteria in my gut and to look after my body. I count my lucky stars that he was my doctor.
I am a qualified Naturopathic Nutritionist with an Advanced Practitioner and a Clinical Practice Diploma in Nutritional Healing and have been practicing on a part-time basis for 8 years. My healing journey as a therapist continues and it is my passion to help others along their personal journeys empowering people to heal themselves.
He was right, not necessarily his recommendation and how to go about it (therein lies another story!) but I thanked the universe for that moment as I turned and looked towards complementary therapies.
In doing so I very quickly went to see a naturopath and changed my diet quite dramatically and in turn my lifestyle. Nutrition and the use of food has been the basis in aiding me to heal my body and giving it and me the integrity and energy I’ve needed to continue and support my healing journey.
I realised that the only way forward for me was to take responsibility for my own health and happiness and during this time I have been interested and involved with complementary therapies from a personal point of view. I consistently sought out therapies that supported my own personal values and beliefs and enabled me to rediscover my own vitality, health and passion for life - naturally.

It has been a process of highs and lows but it has been and is absolutely life changing. This was the real start of my healing journey, one that has been empowering and awakening. Taking ownership of my own wellbeing and understanding that I could manifest, create and change aspects of my being is both enlightening and exciting.
My interest and passion in holistic health and nutrition from my own healing perspective led me to study Nutritional Healing for 4 years with The Nutritional Healing Foundation. During my training I studied nutrition in a naturopathic context and obtained the knowledge and skills to facilitate healing for others from a place of true understanding and compassion.
